Well, this was going to happen!

We're getting great reviews from customers about the gauze wraps.
" Wow! That was my reaction first time I touched it.
It was so soft and amazingly light. It is a perfect wrap for 4 seasons IMO. I can for sure wear this under a winter coat and of course in Summer just its own. Another thing I like about this wrap is that it can be either casual or cool/classy due to the solid colour and the crinkly look!
You can easily dump in a bag without even worrying about any crease. Perfect for the summer holiday.
To appreciate this wrap, I suggest you to try the woven wrap first and try Calin Blue.
I guarantee you that you will say, "Oh my God!" It is 100 times lighter and easier to manipulate", says Jin-Hee. (London)

They have been flying off the shelves, selling faster that our sewing contractor can sew them and definitely faster than we can check and package them.
So we're out of stock of natural, olive and purple. We will hopefully start receiving more over the next few weeks.
But visit our retailers, they might have the colour you've been looking for in stock.

A fun day at the Tate Modern

The baby wearers of London are becoming very active. Every couple of weeks, we meet up at a Museum and start exchanging tips on slings, running after the kids, discussing the way we parent our children, and having a nice relaxing time.

On June 21st, we were meeting at the Tate Modern. This is Jo with her purple gauze wrap. You can see more photos here.

Megan of Cwtshi lent us her new EVO mei tai so we could have a play. "Very comfortable" says Stephanie, wearing 3 1/2 year old Ben.

Come and join us on July 6th for our next meeting. The venue is still up for discussion. Visit Sling Meet for all you need to know

The fun of swatch photos

Most of our customers buy their wraps on-line so having excellent photos showing the colours well is very important to us. We spend quite a lot of time taking photos, manipulating them to get the colour right.

Most of our photos are taken with our trustworthy Nikon D70. I love these photos: Leom's photos with the black micro fleece wrap, Emily with the gorgeous purple gauze wrap, Odaline in the red microfleece or asleep in the cherry red gauze wrap the are among my favourites...

For swatch photos, it's always a bit trickier. The purple gauze gave us nightmares. Red is also one
of the most difficult colours to render on screen.

So... we have a new toy to take even better pictures: colour check chart and colour imitor for the screen. You should see great improvement over the next few weeks and months. Here is a preview (and a sneak preview of a very limited edition of linen wraps.

Come and meet other parents at Sling Meet

Do any of the following describe you?

  • You want to carry your baby while you carry on other activities
  • You want to buy a carrier but you're not quite sure which one
  • You have a carrier but have not had much luck getting a comfortable
  • You've never used a baby carrier but wouldn't mind trying
  • You are an experienced "baby wearer" and you would like to share your experience

Then come and meet us!

Sling Meet is a new forum where parents can organise meetings with other parents who carry their children using any type of baby carrier, sling, wrap or pouch.

In essence, they choose to carry their children when they are babies and also as they grow into toddlers. They carry them not just when they are on a crowded bus but when they are at home getting on with their normal lives.

Come and meet them, try their slings before you buy one for yourself, get some advice on how to use yours, try new carries, get some help with back carries, or just share a cup of tea.

Next meeting in London is planned for June 21st.

What's new at Calin Bleu

Lots of things have been happening at Calin Bleu, the new gauze wraps are flying off the shelves. The hot weather has finally arrived in Britain and parents seem keen to use the gauze wraps to keep carrying their kids despite the heat.
Or is it that the lovely new colours are just irresistible?

The London baby wearing scene has been very busy. Mums (and dads) are now meeting every couple of weeks to try each other's slings, get tips on how to get a comfortable fit with their sling, learn back carries. We've already been to Kew Gardens, the Museum of Science, the Museum of Natural History, Alexandra Palace. Next meeting will on June 21st. If you're in the London area, get in touch with us to learn more about it.

And finally we'll be moving to Glasgow in a couple of months. We are looking forward to starting our new life there and hopefully meet lots of baby wearing mums and dads!
